The Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training course is designed to teach adults how to recognise signs and symptoms of an emerging mental illness, or to provide initial support to a teenager who may be experiencing a mental health problem or crisis.
There are a range of programs available, including Standard, Youth, Teen, Conversations about Suicide, and Conversations about Non-Suicidal-Self-Injury. Each course explores how to identify signs and symptoms of mental health concerns, how to approach and communicate with individuals in distress, and how to guide them toward appropriate professional or community support.
Through structured discussions, role-play, and evidence-based frameworks, participants gain practical tools to respond with care and confidence. Completing the course equips attendees to become Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders), prepared to offer informed support when it matters most.
This course is a blended format and you must complete online learning (approx 5-7 hours) prior to attending this one day in person course. Participants are encouraged to arrive 10-15 minutes early to settle in before the session begins. Please bring a notebook or device for note-taking. A Mental Health First Aid Manual will be provided during the training. Respectful listening and confidentiality are essential to creating a safe learning environment for all attendees. Breaks will be scheduled throughout the day for refreshments and discussions. This is an interactive learning environment to ensure you gain the skills and confidence to help someone with Mental Health First Aid.
All course materials and refreshments are included in the registration fee. Bookings are required in advance as spaces are limited.
